#Pathfinders, A recent grass fire near one of our military family housing areas served as a reminder about fire safety. Though no individuals were hurt, it’s always important to know how to reach the various fire departments across the 501st. We've had unbelievably warm and dry weather these last four weeks. However, with it came the increased risk for fire. Monitor your BBQ grills and fire pits closely. Ensure cigarettes are extinguished and disposed of properly, not flicked into grass or out of a car window. Be vigilant if you burn your yard debris. A moment of carelessness can quickly get out of hand and put you, your family, and others at risk. Take a moment to inspect your home fire extinguisher. If you don't have one, local hardware stores carry them for £12-£25 based on bottle size. Also, ensure you and your family know how to reach the on and off base fire departments in the event of an emergency. If you’re not sure, you can visit the 501st Phone Directory at www.501csw.usafe.af.mil/Contact-Us/Phone-Directory. Enjoy the fantastic summer weather and be safe!
