Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Center at Los Angeles AFB provides free tax advice and tax preparation assistance to military members and their families. The volunteer tax specialists are trained to address military specific tax issues including combat zone tax benefits.

Most service members file their tax returns electronically and receive their refunds in as little as a week. The LAAFB VITA Center prepared 1362 federal and state tax returns, saving service members $94,653 in tax preparation costs during the 2010 tax season.

The Center will be open Monday to Friday, Jan. 26 through April 17, 2012, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is located in the Legal Office, Bldg. 271, 1st Floor.

VITA Eligibility

Free tax preparation from our trained volunteers is available to the groups of individuals listed below. E-filing is also available for free to all qualifying federal and state returns.

Active duty military
Retired military
Dependents
Department of Air Force civilian employees stationed at LAAFB whose adjusted gross income is less than $50,000 for 2011
