61st Security Forces Squadron mblemThe 61st Security Forces Squadron at Los Angeles Air Force Base has one of the most unique operations in the entire Air Force. The 61st SFS is mostly made up of Department of Defense police officers, augmented by Air Force Reservists and Air National Guardsmen. There are only a few active-duty Air Force security forces members stationed here, acting as squadron staff.

61st Security Forces Squadron's Visitor Control Center in Bldg. 260 at Los Angeles AFB, Calif.Visitor Control Center location:
We are located in Bldg. 260, just to the immediate left of the Los Angeles AFB entrance, just past the fence line leading to the Douglas Street main gate.

The facility is a state-of-the-art Visitor Control Center. We prepare and issue AF Form 75 (Temporary Visitor/Vehicle passes). We also coordinate access for contractors, companies, vendors, and visitors, including Aerospace Corporation, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, United Launch Alliance, SpaceX and others in support of Space and Missile Systems Center or Los Angeles AFB mission requirements.

Processing procedures:
Visitors can be pre-vouched on to the installation by permanent party personnel (over 18 years old) calling the main gate prior to the guest's arrival. Visitors also can obtain entry by having their sponsor meet them at the Visitor Control Center located just inside the fence line of the Douglas Street main gate. Visitors over the age of 18 must have a valid picture ID to be allowed access to the base.

61st Force Support Squadron
From the 61st Force Support Squadron's Customer Support:

The ID card office, located in the lobby of Bldg. 272 on the first floor in the Schriever Space Complex is open for eligible personnel Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Closed on Weekends, Federal holidays and AFSPC-designated Family Days).

Walk-ins are welcome, but customers are encouraged to decrease their wait time by scheduling an appointment online via the RAPIDS Appointments Scheduler

tabVehicle Operaton on Base 
Speed limits (unless otherwise posted):
Los Angeles AFB Main Base - 15 MPH
Ft. MacArthur Family housing areas - 15 MPH

Talking on a cell phone while driving is prohibited, unless properly parked or using a single-ear hands-free device. Violators will receive a citation.

Required Seat Belt Use

All drivers and passengers driving on Los Angeles AFB must wear seat belts. Failure to comply will result in the following:

- First Offense:
Citation, four points, and the loss of base driving privileges for 30 days
- Second Offense: Citation, four points, and loss of driving privileges for 90 days
- Third Offense: Citation, four points, and loss of driving privileges for one year.

Parking is authorized only by SMC parking pass or in specifically designated areas.

Parking is prohibited:
- Adjacent to, or blocking trash receptacles
- On, across, or outside parking demarcation lines
- Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
- Any location that would impede the operation of an emergency vehicle
- Designated reserved parking areas
- Overnight, except for mission essential personnel approved by the 61st Air Base Group commander and/or 61st Security Forces Squadron commander
tabPrivately owned weapons storage 
All persons arriving at Los Angeles AFB with firearms in their possession will immediately report to the 61st Security Forces Squadron's Fort MacArthur armory in San Pedro to arrange for the temporary storage of their privately owned weapons. All firearms stored on base will be registered via AF Form 1314, in person, with the Pass and Registration office, located on the first floor of Bldg. 272 in the Schriever Space Complex at Los Angeles AFB in El Segundo.
