Public Affairs
The Space and Missile Systems Center Public Affairs staff serves as the liaison between the commander, base personnel and their family members, civilian communities and American and International publics. News about SMC and Los Angeles Air Force Base is distributed to internal and external audiences. Among the products and services the PA Staff provides are: answering media and public queries, providing speakers for organizational and school events, photo and video services, and website management. The director also provides advice and counsel to the base and center's leadership on Public Affairs matters.
Media: All news media queries should be sent to the media inbox where they are reviewed daily. The e-mail address is: smcpa.media@us.af.mil. Media Relations will staff the query to the appropriate organization for response. Normal response time is 48 to 72 hours; however, SMC interests and media deadlines may prompt faster reaction or could take longer depending upon the complexity and nature of the query.
Community Outreach: Public queries, speaker requests or other community relations asset requests can be sent to SMCPA.OUTREACH@us.af.mil.
Speaker Bureau: The goal of the Speaker Bureau is to keep the public informed about SMC, Los Angeles Air Force Base and the Air Force. The Speakers Bureau includes military and civilian personnel who are available for speaking engagements at a variety of venues including schools, community organization meetings and special events. Audiences typically range in size from 25 to 100 persons and range in age from elementary school students to senior citizens. To request a speaker, call (310) 653-2368, or send a written request to the address listed below or e-mail to SMCPA.OUTREACH@us.af.mil.
Hometown News Program: Air Force personnel achievements are reported to their hometown newspapers and other news media through the Joint Hometown News Program. Complete a DD Form 2266 and return it to SMC/PA. The paperless form can be found online here.
