NHS-B RBC project

Ground is broken for a new remote tracking station upgrade at New Boston Air Force Station. The project will bring enhanced telemetry, tracking and command capabilities to the Air Force Satellite Control Network.

GPS IIF 2 Launch

A United Launch Alliance Delta IV rocket blasts off from Space Launch Complex-37 at 2:41 a.m. EDT, July 16, with the Air Force's Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF-2 payload.This launch marks the 50th successful GPS launch on a Delta vehicle. GPS IIF-2 is the second in a series of next generation GPS satellites and will join a worldwide timing and navigation system utilizing 24 satellites in six different planes, with a minimum of four satellites per plane positioned in orbit approximately 11,000 miles above the earths' surface. SMC Change of Command

As Lt. Gen. Ellen Pawlikowski assumes command from Lt. Gen. Tom Sheridan, one of Fort MacArthur's two ceremonial cannons fires. The Ceremonial Cannon Detail at Los Angeles AFB has the distinction of being one of the only organizations of its kind in the Air Force. The two French cannons were built in 1917 and 1918 respectively and are mounted on 1940 caissons. The cannons fire 75mm blank cannon shells. (Photo by Sarah Corrice)

(May 7, 2011) – The Air Force’s Space Based Infrared Systems GEO-1 payload is launched aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex-41 here at 2:10 p.m. EDT. SBIRS is designed to provide global, overhead, persistent, infrared surveillance capability to meet 21st century demands in mission areas including missile warning, missile defense, technical intelligence and battlespace awareness. LAAFB Remediation Project

SST Integrated Training Center

The center trains satellite operators in a realistic setting. Spearheaded by the Space and Missile Systems Center Space Training Acquisition Office, Air Force Research Lab and AETC in 2006, the project was envisioned as a cost effective, quality training system built on a common training architecture.
