Ms. Leslie A. Kennedy is the Director of Staff, Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. She is responsible for managing all corporate services provided in direct support to the SMC commander, serving as primary advisor for corporate operations and providing resources to perform specialized studies and analysis in support of the organizational and operational missions of SMC.

Ms. Kennedy entered federal service in 1975 as a Stay in School employee for the Office of Naval Research. From 1980 to 1983, she served as a management analyst for the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, D.C., in her first full-time federal position, supporting the development of a Management Information System for the Commissioner of Labor Statistics. In 1983, she moved to southern California, working in a variety of increasingly responsible leadership positions at the Defense Contract Management Agency, relocating to northern California in 2001 as the Operations Group Chief at DCMA Lockheed Martin Sunnyvale. She gained significant experience working in a large multifunctional plant representative office as the senior leader guiding operational support in contracting, engineering, manufacturing, and program integration, which she leveraged in 2003 to become the DCMA Customer Liaison to the Space and Missile Systems Center. Ms. Kennedy joined the Air Force in 2007, assigned to the Contracting Directorate as part of the United Launch Alliance novation team, then as the Resource Management Division Chief on the Contracting staff. In 2010, she became the Deputy Director of the Strategic Plans and Programs Directorate and Director in 2012, serving in this capacity until her selection as Director of Staff in June 2015.
