Colonel Paul Cronin is the Staff Judge Advocate for the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC/JA), Air Force Space Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He leads an office of 25 attorneys and 6 paralegal and support staff. SMC is the center of technical excellence for developing, acquiring, fielding and sustaining military space systems. The Center is responsible for research, development, acquisition and sustainment of launch, command and control capabilities, space control assets and on-orbit check-out, testing, sustainment and maintenance of military satellite constellations and other Department of Defense space systems. A NAF-equivalent, SMC supports over 5,000 people worldwide with an annual budget of $10 billion. Colonel Cronin has twice served as a Staff Judge Advocate. Colonel Cronin deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan with CENTCOM-Joint Theater Support Contracting Command as the Deputy Command Judge Advocate, and to Special Operations Command-Europe as the Command Judge Advocate.

Colonel Cronin attended college at Bradley University, double-majoring in Administration of Criminal Justice and Political Science. He graduated magna cum laude in May 1995. He then attended the University of Missouri Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate in May 1998. He entered active duty in the United States Air Force by direct commission on November8, 1998. Colonel Cronin attended The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School where he received his LL.M. in May 2008. He graduated on the Commandant’s List and was awarded the Ernest M. Brannon Award for Highest Standing in Government Contract and Fiscal Law.

Colonel Cronin is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Missouri, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the Court of Federal Claims.
